Penny's Story

Penny
Bully Mix
Female
3 years old (DOB Nov 4/19)
55lbs
Food Allergies
Spayed, vaccinated, microchipped

Looking for no other dog home, no really small kids.

Fostered in Toronto Ontario.

Penny was an owner surrender back to the rescue due to an incident with another dog over the Christmas holidays, We had a behavioural assessment completed (will be available upon adoption) and Penny is a great dog who is timid in certain situations and needs an experienced dog owner who is home often.

Penny was born here at the rescue, many of you are familiar with her mother Maple. Penny is sensitive of her paws being touched and has allergies. Penny starts out shy but then can get a little overexcited with other dogs so she is best to live as the only dog. Penny comes with a network of support as all of her siblings adopters have remained in touch via a personal FB group. Her mother is on site here and we like to think of ourselves as an extended family.
From her Foster:

"Penny is definitely much more confident and comfortable than she was when she first arrived. Loves walks. Doesn't shy away from sniffing and socializing with other dogs - hasn't shown any signs of aggression on our walks. She definitely is a "stop and smell the roses" kind of dog. She won't let many interesting smells pass her by uninvesitgated. Random bursts of energy and joy manifested in sudden spurts of sprinting/running are not uncommon so be sure to always have a solid handle on the lead. She pulls with great strength and I would definitely think that she may be too strong from some - possibly a double lead to avoid risk of her getting loose might be a good best practice for anyone less confident with their upper body strength/balance.

At home - she is a dream dog. She cuddles like a pro - loves her toys and will present you her favourite when ever she is excited - which is anytime you look her way. She seems to be infatuated by her human - looking to them to guide her in her daily activities/schedule. She loves her nap time and spends a lot of the day snuggled up on the couch. Or on the bed. If you aren't comfortable allowing her on your couch or in your bed this may not be a great match.

She seems to have a long memory for things that startle her - a bit of a slip on a certain part of the floor will lead to weeks of caution on that one part of the floor. I feel like this will just take time and consistency and confidence. She is definitely a cautious girl and a bit unsure - but by and large a loving cuddly doggo who loves her treats almost as much as her human.

She really is the perfect mix of home body and extroverted excited doggo."

If you are intrested in Penny please email 30sixpaws@gmail.com and request an adoption application.
