Penny - Courtesy Listing's Story
Penny is a ten year old potcake (mutt rescued from Turks and Caicos), about 45 pounds, who deserves to live out her golden years feeling safe and loved. She’s spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, and has been healthy her whole life.

About Penny:

Temperament: Penny is a sweetheart who loves her people. She loves nothing more than following them room to room and napping nearby.

Good with kids: older kids who can be respectful of her space.

Good with other dogs/cats: yes, with proper introductions. She has lived with a cat her whole life and still tries to play with her every so often, but also knows to leave her alone when the cat has had enough!

Training: Penny is house and crate trained. She knows basic commands (sit, lie down, go to your bed) and can shake a paw too! She is very food motivated

Energy level: couch potato with bursts of speed! She loves to explore her backyard and will get zoomies when she is excited but is asleep most of the time!

Her ideal home: Penny’s ideal home is quiet – she does bark at the doorbell or loud noises. She also can be reactive to unfamiliar dogs if she is on leash, so a family who can manage that or has enough space for her to run around or explore would be great.

Why she’s being rehomed: Penny is being rehomed because she accidentally bit a small child who fell on top of her. It was a reactive response to being startled, not an unprovoked attack, and fortunately the injuries were superficial. If the child could be trusted to respect her space Penny would never be rehomed at all, as she has never had an issue being around small kids in the past, but to be on the safe side we know she would do better in an environment with people who can respect her space and be consistently gentle. Penny loves being around her people and would be petted all day if she had it her way but she is an older girl with boundaries that will do better in a home without young kid.

This is a courtesy listing.

If you would like to provide Penny with a home for her golden years, please contact Allie at allie.lane9@gmail.com
