Penny | Adult | Cocker Spaniel's Story
Penny is a 5-year-old Cocker Spaniel who survived for months on her own in Shawnee National Forest. Life was hard, uncertain, and lonely, but Penny held on — and now she is finally safe.

She is sweet, playful, and deeply gentle, but also very timid and submissive. Penny truly blossoms in calm, patient environments. When she feels secure, she surprises us with joyful zoomies and quiet moments of happiness that show just how much love she has to give.

Penny thrives with people who are home most of the time, such as work-from-home households or retirees, and she loves snuggling and being close to her people. She gains confidence through consistent presence and reassurance.

We require that Penny go to a home with another well-rounded dog or cat. Having an animal companion to snuggle with and learn from is extremely important for her confidence and emotional growth.

Penny is available now through a foster-to-adopt arrangement, with her spay scheduled for 2/13.

About Shining Light Animal Rescue (SLAR):
SLAR specializes in urgent and emergency rescue cases—dogs who would not survive without intervention. When you foster or adopt Penny, you are not only saving her life, but also making room for us to help the next dog in crisis.

Adoption saves two lives.

Apply here:
https://www.shininglightanimalrescue.org/adoption-application
