Penny is nothing short of a miracle. She fought so hard to survive after being run over by a car that severed her spine in 3 places, and at only a few months old. She then dragged herself around the neighborhood in southern Texas, where the driver left her to die. For 2 days, every single human that saw her, ignored her. Not ONE a human helped! She finally collapsed at the fence of a home and you would have thought she died by the looks of the photo taken by a boy that lived there. After he posted that to Facebook, it was sent to the rescue and well, the journey to saving Penny began immediately. <br/><br/>Penny made it very clear that she wanted to live, despite so many people telling us to euthanize her, in the beginning. We had to fight just as hard, as this girl was fighting for herself! Now, Penny is thriving as our rescue Princess, wheeling around in her throne, showing off how much she loves life and bringing an overwhelming amount of smiles and love everywhere she goes! People everywhere are just so fascinated by her- her story, her confidence, her smile and her sweetness. This girl is a mush!!! <br/><br/>Penny wears a diaper 24/7, but also frills and skirts and onesies…u name it. Shes a girl that lives to dress well. She may need some help with her pottying, but we have to tell you- it’s easier than our 4 leggeds that can feel all that back end!! That’s because once you have the hang of it, it’s a few diaper changes a day at 30 seconds! You don’t even have to brave the nasty cold with this one, however….she does love her snow and being outdoors as much as possible. She is happiest whipping around in her drag bag, chasing the other dogs, finding and playing mama to baby frogs and exploring the whole yard round and round. And when you want to hike? Or go into town? Pop her In her all-terrain wheels and watch this girl go! <br/><br/>We should mention that Penny has a resident mama bear, Minnie, whom she is so bonded to! So, for that reason, we would consider a home for both of them to stay together, over anything, but we also would consider a home with another “Minnie,” or mama bear that would take her under her wings. Penny, no doubt, will give them all a run for their money, but she needs the tug of war, playing Tag, being little spoon, and the endless licks she gets with Minnie, before every nap.
