Penny's Story
Ask Penny to sit and she plants herself, tips her head to one side, and looks up at you to see what comes next.

She is a seven month old girl with a copper red coat, a white stripe running straight up the middle of her face, a white chest and white feet. Her ears are still too big for her and fold over at the tips. She weighs under 30 pounds and is still filling out, so she will end up bigger than she looks today. Penny came to us through Central Virginia Friends of Petersburg Animal Care and Control and is living in a foster home.

Penny is house trained and crate trained, and she already knows sit. She has spent time around children and done very well with them. She loves other dogs and would be happy with a friendly dog to learn from, but she can also go home as an only dog with someone patient and kind. At home with her foster she has gone from cautious to stretching out in the middle of the bed. Her adopter will also receive a full year of pet accessories from Pretties and Papers.

A few honest things before you apply. The world has been a scary place for Penny, and she is still learning that people can be kind, so she needs a patient home that lets her warm up on her own time rather than expecting her to be brave overnight. She has not been around cats that we know of, so we cannot tell you how she would do living with one.

Penny is living in a foster home, so visits with her are set up by appointment.
