Penny's Story

🐾 Penny got a taste of home, and she LOVED it. 🐾

After 80 days at MOAS, Penny spent a few days in a temporary foster home, and here's what her foster mom had to say 💕

"Penny is about a year old and is an incredibly affectionate, loving girl who is happiest when she's cuddling close to her people. She's a solid, soft-furred pup who's basically built for hugs. She's playful and energetic, especially with other dogs...she had a blast playing with the resident dog! Chewy toys, rolling onto her back, and soaking up attention are some of her favorite things.🤗

When other dogs weren't around, Penny showed she can settle and enjoy calmer moments, too. She knows basic commands like sit and no and is eager to learn more. Potty training and crate training are still works in progress, but with consistency and patience, she has all the tools to succeed in a home environment.

Overall, Penny is a sweet, happy, loving dog who truly deserves a family of her own. She did so well outside the shelter. Now she just needs someone willing to give her the time, guidance, and love she's been waiting for."

Penny is a FUN girl who will keep you active and snuggle with you when the day is done. We need to get her out asap. She is an urgent case.

💛 Ready to meet Penny or learn more about adopting or fostering?
Visit Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter during our open hours of Wednesday-Saturday, 12-5pm or Sunday, 12-4pm and ask to meet her. Let's get Penny out of the shelter and into the home she deserves. 🐶💛

Penny is 1 year old, 55 pounds. Joined us at MOAS on 11/19

Who wouldn't want this thick chocolate brown pibble that you can squeeze endlessly? Penny is a LOVER. She loves hugs and affection. She also loves rolling around on her back. While she may come on strong at first, that energy wears off over time and I truly think she'll be a couch snuggler extraordinaire once she's in a home. She's been wonderful with the dogs she's been tested with, and was very submissively playful with a dominant male. She got to meet a young kid today and was extremely gentle, even when taking treats out of his hand. The only thing that's a "no no" for her is a home with cats because she does like to chase! Please call the shelter at (706) 795-2868 to schedule a meet and greet.

Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter is a non-profit shelter serving over 720 square miles. We are open intake, meaning we can not turn away animals from either county we serve. Our shelter intakes double or triple it's capacity every month so it is essential we place animals quickly into adoptive homes. Since so many animals enter the shelter we often don't have enough volunteers to write an individual bio for each. Please feel free to call the shelter Wednesday-Sunday to inquire about the animal you are interested in. 706-795-2868.

Viewing and adoption hours at our shelter are Wednesday through Sunday from 12 PM to 5 PM.
All adoption fees include age-appropriate vaccinations, flea treatment, deworming, and spay or neuter, microchip, and adoption packet.
Fees:
Dogs over 6 months old: $100
Puppies under 6 months: $200.
Cats and Kittens are $75 ($65 without microchip).

For your convenience you can fill out an adoption application for any of our current residents at www.moaspets.com. Join us on Facebook at
https://www.facebook.com/moaspets. It's a great way to stay up to the minute on the furry 4 legged friends we have looking for a loving forever home.
We are located at:
1888 Colbert Danielsville Rd
Danielsville, GA 30633
706-795-2868

NOTE: Our adoptions are first come first served, simply filling out an application does not mean the animal will be held for you, you must come meet the animal in person in order to be considered for adoption.
If you rent you must bring your lease or a letter from your landlord stating you may adopt.
