Penny's Story
Penny is an approximately 2-year-old Belgian Malinois mix with a heart as big as her ears (seriously, those ears catch radio transmissions sometimes). After a rough start in life fending for herself as a stray, Penny has truly blossomed in foster care and has proven just how adaptable and resilient she is.

She has transitioned beautifully into indoor life and is fully house-trained and crate-trained. Penny has also discovered one of her favorite luxuries, snuggling up and sleeping in bed! Right now, she has a normal to medium energy level, which may increase a bit as she continues to gain weight and reach a healthy body condition. While she is a working-breed mix, she currently doesn’t show strong working drives and would be perfectly happy as an active companion in a loving pet home.

Penny is incredibly smart, attentive, and eager to learn. She listens well and picks things up quickly. Because she didn’t get to experience puppyhood the way most dogs do, she still has some puppy like behaviors such as jumping when she’s excited, which will only improve with continued guidance, structure, and consistency.

She is currently living harmoniously with six other dogs ranging from 7 to 45 pounds and is very dog-friendly. She has not been exposed to cats or children.

Adoption Application: www.jasperslegacy.org/apply-to-adopt

************************
Penny is located in a foster home. We are happy to coordinate a meet & greet for pre-approved adopters. To get started, please submit an adoption application at www.jasperslegacy.org/apply-to-adopt

Adoption process:
Potential adopters complete our online application. From there, we contact them to continue the screening process including checking references, vet checks, and a personal phone interview. Upon completion, potential adopters are pre-approved.

From there, potential adopters are put in touch with the foster parent(s) of the dog they are interested in adopting. If a specific dog is not in mind, admins will make suggestions based on who we feel will be good candidates for their home. We take the foster's opinions into high consideration when determining ideal fit for an adoption.

Once the dog is determined to be a good fit for the adoptive home, the adopter is given advisement on decompression, training, safety gear, and future preventative vetting. The adoption contract is signed and adoption fee paid to finalize the adoption.
