Penne's Story
Penne
Female
D.O.B. 4/14/26
Estimated Full Grown Weight: 40-50 lbs
Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer

Hi! I'm Penne! I'm a silly, smart, and sweet little girl who is still learning that the world isn't such a scary place. I can be timid and shy when I first meet new people, animals, or hear unfamiliar sounds. Sometimes I'll even bark at suspicious things until I decide they're safe — like yard umbrellas. You can never be too careful, right? The good news is that I've already come out of my shell quite a bit. While I'll still need continued socialization because I can be shy at first, I'm doing much better and my confidence is growing every day.Once I feel comfortable, my fun personality really starts to shine. I love cuddling, treats of all kinds, hard chews, toys, and getting the zoomies in the yard. I'm a very smart girl and a fast learner, especially when treats are involved!I'm already doing great with crate training. I go into my crate easily with a treat and should be crated when home alone. Since I'm still young and new to rescue, I'm also working on potty training and leash walking. I'm doing really well with potty training, especially when I'm rewarded for doing the right thing, so my foster family thinks I'll have it figured out in no time. Leash walking is a little harder for me right now because I'm still building confidence. New places and noises can feel overwhelming, but with patience and encouragement, I'm sure I'll become a great walking buddy.I'm okay with cats, although I am still a puppy, so I may want to chase or play with them because they seem like very fun potential playmates. I haven't spent enough time around kids yet to know exactly how I'll do, but my foster family thinks I'll likely be just fine with proper introductions. What I really need is someone patient who will keep helping me build confidence, continue socializing me, and let me experience new things at my own pace. Give me a little time, some encouragement, and plenty of treats, and I know I'll blossom into an amazing companion — and maybe even your favorite adventure buddy.I really am a very sweet pup. I just need someone to show me that the world isn't nearly as scary as I think it is.If you are interested in meeting Penne, apply to adopt her at www.causeforcanines.org. Adoption fee: $395. Must be an Ohio resident and 23 or older. Children must be 5 or older.
