Penelope's Story

You can apply for Penelope at https://ladyluckanimalrescue.wufoo.com/forms/canine-adoption-agreement-and-application/ ❤ï ̧
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! ❤ï ̧
Penelope is a 5 year old, 22 lb French Bulldog who we rescued from Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control in August 2025. This poor girl was used to breed multiple litters and her medical needs were never addressed. When she was longer of value to her owners, they dumped her like a piece of trash. We had to have her eye removed because the eyeball itself had ruptured and there was nothing there to salvage, she underwent soft palate and nares surgery to correct her breathing. Her skin was horrendous from food allergies and living in a crate. She has been living in a foster home with a family for several months and is fully recovered from all of her physical medical problems. The psychological effects of being locked in a crate and used to breed do have a few long lasting effects that remain. Penelope’s ideal adopter will have a fenced backyard for her to use for potty breaks and playing. Going for leash walks or going to a dog park are not for her. Her foster family consists of 3 adults and 2 children and a male Frenchie. Although she loves the kids, Penelope needs a low traffic home; so we will want her to go to a home with either a single adult or couple, no children. She loves other dogs in the home and has been cat tested and ignores them. She is a special needs dog as she only has one eye and her hearing seems to be limited. She is extremely loving and affectionate, but requires someone familiar with the stubbornness of the breed and how to be her pack leader.
Penelope is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and preventatives.
If you are interested in Adopting Penelope, please fill out our adoption application. (There is an adoption fee) A meet and greet with Penelope is required.
