Peanut 's Story

Meet Peanut! This young man loves children. He is very gentle and sweet with them. Peanut was rescued from a miserable life on a chain, where he was totally at the mercy of the people who chained him. Not surprisingly, the type of people who will sentence a dog to life on the chain are not likely to be too concerned with the care and comfort of the dog. So Peanut was deprived of adequate shelter, nutrition, protection from the elements, and socialization. But like so many chained dogs, Peanut has been very forgiving. He just wants to play and cuddle.
Peanut goes into his crate on his own and does well in it. He is crated at night and for about six hours during the day. He only barks when he sees his foster mom coming—he is ready for some snuggles! He had a couple of accidents in his crate at first, but other than that, housetraining is going very well. He is also really good on the leash.
Peanut is very energetic and loves to run around, which he was never able to do in his previous life. He loves his toys but didn’t seem to know what they were at first. He is very gentle with them. He plays really well and children and enjoys playing with other dogs. He has not been observed with a cat yet.
Peanut still has a few insecurities leftover from his previous situation: he is just the slightest bit hesitant when meeting new people, but he dearly loves people, so he overcomes that quickly. Loud noises make him cower. He is also a bit worried about having enough to eat. He has shown no growling or aggression, but he eats as quickly as he can. He should soon realize that his hard days are behind him.
Peanut is the loving optimist we all need in our lives. He just wants to be with people. He needs a loving home that will be able to give him attention, training, and lots of belly rubs.
