Peanut's Story
COURTESY POST FOR PRIVATE OWNER

Far from tiny, this long-legged fur kid is a pure delight! Peanut is a happy, rambunctious 65-lb boy between 1-2-years old. He loves people and other dogs, but also gets along with horses, goats, and pigs!

Peanut’s happy place is outdoors. It’s where he was trained to be such a good boy and it’s where his true personality shines. Staff and volunteers see his perky personality when he’s interacting with people, going on walks, and exploring the outer surroundings.

He never needs coaxing to go on a walk, car ride, or adventure. He loves taking road trips! He is a good walker on leash and has a good recall. He’d love being a companion for active adults who have a home with a large fenced yard. He could potentially be a fur sibling with a resident dog.

Peanut is basically a four-legged spark plug and his exuberance for life can get a bit over the top. Three weeks of boarding and training helped, but he still has some jumpy, mouthy puppy habits to break. (One hour of training is included with adoption, but if needed, more sessions can be arranged.) Despite needing some work, he’s a huge sweetheart who has never shown any aggression or reactivity.

Since Peanut spends most of his day in either an indoor kennel or an outdoor run, he really needs to feel the wonders of a loving home and family. Though cared for and walked almost daily, it’s very ruff for this very good boy to be so cooped up. Yet, because he is used to small spaces, initially he cannot have free range of his new home. Seems counter-intuitive, but he actually adjusts best within a limited space, and in time you would gradually expand his access. This process will prevent him from becoming overstimulated and overwhelmed.

Peanut’s must-haves:
An adopter with large-dog experience. No young children though savvy teens considered.
An initial period to decompress and transition. Limited space at first, but no use of crates.
A daily routine and regular exercise. He thrives on structure and likes knowing what to expect.
Continued reinforcement of training and work on manners (no jumping on granny!)
No cats or small animals.

Please contact Live and Let Live Farm’s Rescue & Sanctuary in NH.
