Peanut 's Story
Name: Peanut
Age: 1 Year
Gender: Neutered Male
Breed: Beagle Mix
Weight: 15.5Ibs

Peanut is a 16lb, 2-year-old Beagle blend who came to the shelter with a few siblings, and promptly promoted himself to ring leader, CEO, and head of the Complaint Department.

He’s the spicy one.
The instigator.
The dog who hears rules and says, “Interesting concept. Counterpoint: I’m still thinking about it.”

Under all that bold behavior, Peanut is actually still a bit shy and learning how to trust. Confidence is his armor. Sass is his coping skill. He likes to act tough, especially in the spotlight, but this little guy is still figuring out that the world (and people) can be safe.

When no one is looking and his reputation is protected, he’ll quietly ask for cuddles and offer polite, well-mannered kisses. The moment he realizes he’s being watched? Soft side immediately locked away. Image is everything.

Peanut will challenge:
• Your authority
• Your other dog
• Possibly gravity
• Definitely his own comfort zone

He is food motivated (obviously), but not food aggressive from what we’ve seen. Treats help build trust, confidence, cooperation, and Peanut is very open to negotiations involving snacks.

Peanut would do best with an adopter who:
? Understands confused dogs with big personalities
? Has patience and time to work on a little boys manners
? Will let him go at his own pace, but also lead him in the right direction
? Appreciates that bravado sometimes hides a tender heart

If you’re looking for quiet and predictable… this is not your guy.
If you want an attitude, slight insecurities, secretly affectionate and a little menace who is learning to trust and love, Peanut is waiting for you.

Apply to adopt Peanut here:
https://www.waynedogshelter.org/adoption-questionnaire

Warning: May start out spicy, but possibly end up glued to your side... or spicy forever.
