Pawtricia has been with our rescue for a number of years now, and she truly shouldn’t be here at our shelter.<br/>She’s got sweetness, sass, and charisma - yet she is currently a little too high-strung appearing for most people upon first impression. High-strung dogs are constantly alert, attentive, energetic and intelligent - however their most defining characteristics is that they don’t know how to relax. Learning how to relax simply never happened for so many dogs who grew up strays, got shuffled around, abandoned, or who are stuck living in a shelter.<br/>Similar to trauma responses in humans; dogs surviving in distressing environments over time will create shortcuts in their brain that will release adrenaline causing their body to go into fight or flight mode over and over again.<br/>The path to teach dogs how to relax - a skill more crucial than both potty training, leash walking, or recall - is individual to each dog. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption.
