Meet Patty
What did you say? Huh? I can't hear you! That's right - Ms. Patty is deaf but trust us it doesn't slow her down one little bit. She is almost four years old and is a basset mix and moves as fast as her short little legs can go.
Is owning a deaf dog hard - not really. You learn to talk with your hands (we all use our voice too but that is ok). If she is outside at night you flip a light to get her attention. A vibration collar would also work. Another dog would be great to help her around but she would have to learn to not be "snippy" with the other dog. We are working with that but still have a ways to go.
Don't let that cute little smile lull you into believing that she is a cute little angel - she is mischievous and oh so much fun. We probably wouldn't recommend her with cats or small children - due to her grabbing your hand when she wants your attention we would worry that it would hurt or scare a small child. She calms down if you use your hand signals and showing her what you want her to do. Just telling her doesn't work.
She is completely housebroken, spayed, current on shots, heartworm negative, current on preventatives and micro-chipped. Her adoption fee is $100.00 and you get all of the above plus a bundle of joy.
