Patron (F26-59)'s Story

My adoption fee has been covered by a generous donor!

Patron is an almost two-year-old, 50-pound Labrador Retriever with a big heart and even bigger energy to share. This handsome boy has a lot of love to give and is searching for a home that can keep up with his active mind and playful spirit. He has had a pretty rough start to life and is sensitive to being alone or being "left," so we will require a consult with our behavior team to ensure that information is passed on!

Patron thrives when he has things to do. He enjoys going on walks, playing with toys, and spending time with people who want to engage with him. He is a very smart dog who will do best in a home that can provide both physical activity and mental stimulation to keep him happy and fulfilled.

Because of his intelligence and enthusiasm, Patron is looking for a home that will give him structure and help him understand clear boundaries. With guidance and consistency, he has the potential to grow into an incredible companion.

If there are other dogs in the home, a meet and greet at the shelter is required to ensure everyone is a good fit. An experienced adopter familiar with active breeds is preferred so Patron can receive the leadership and engagement he needs to thrive. We would like for him to go to a home with older kids as he is still learning manners.

If you are looking for a loyal, energetic companion who will keep life active and engaging, Patron may be the perfect match for you. Come meet him and see if he could be the right fit for your home.
---------
Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!
