Patrick's Story

Who is this handsome fellow? It’s Patrick!

Patrick is estimated to be around 4 months old and is a mellow and loveable guy. He is a gentle soul who is learning to trust. He has all the qualities to make him a wonderful companion for someone looking for an easygoing and loyal buddy. Patrick weighs about 27lbs. We think that he will be around 40-50lbs when fully grown.

Patrick was found as a stray in rural Modesto and brought to the local shelter. He came in with his 3 siblings - Ireland, Fiona, and another brother who was adopted from the shelter. Due to overcrowding at the shelter, the puppies found themselves on the euthanasia list. We are so happy to be able to save their lives, and they have been adjusting well to life in foster care. They are looking for individual homes so that they can get the one-on-one training and socialization that they need.

Patrick is the calmest of the three puppies, but he still loves to play! His favorite games are wrestling with Fiona or playing tug-of-war.

He’s also content to settle down beside you and keep you company while you’re pulling weeds in the yard

.
Patrick

needs a family committed to continuing his basic manners training.

Patrick has done well living with a small dog, and he seems like he would enjoy having a dog his size to play with in his new home. He also would love a dog buddy who can mentor him and help him gain confidence. We haven't seen him around cats, but he may do well living with dog-savvy cats after a slow introduction. Patrick could be a wonderful addition to a family with kids 10 years and older.

Patrick hasn’t had any accidents in the house, but he may have some accidents while adjusting to a new home. He settles down and sleeps quietly in his crate all night, and if he’s in his crate during the day, he’ll whine and give a little bark when he wants to go outside. Patrick is used to having his foster mom home during the day, so he would do best with a family who can slowly acclimate him to being home alone.

Does Patrick sound like your kind of guy? All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes.

Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption.

For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org.

For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org.
