Patches (Foster-to-Adopt)'s Story

Patches is available for Foster to Adopt!

We'd love to welcome Patches into the Fetch + Releash family on January 7, 2026. In order to secure a spot on the flight, she needs a committed foster-to-adopt family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you’ll be expected to take her home that same day. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found.

Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog’s nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions.

Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet Mississauga, ON for further vet care.

During your foster-to-adopt trial, you’ll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit.

Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Patches / Female / 2 years old / 29 lbs / Mixed Breed / From Antigua
Patches is a friendly, easygoing girl who is ready to find a home where she can thrive. She came into care as an owner surrender from a family that was overwhelmed and unable to properly provide for the number of dogs in their care. Despite her circumstances, Patches has remained social, gentle, and full of warmth.
She is wonderful with children and gets along very well with other dogs. Patches has shown herself to be polite and adaptable when meeting new dogs, including during vet visits, and she consistently displays calm, friendly behaviour.
Patches is doing well on leash and enjoys getting out for walks. She has a medium energy level, making her a great match for a home that enjoys regular outings balanced with downtime. While she is not crate trained, she settled nicely once introduced to a crate, suggesting she may continue to improve with gentle guidance and consistency. Her house-training is still a work-in-progress.
Patches would do well in a home looking for a sweet, social dog who fits easily into family life. If you’re searching for a loving companion who is good with kids, friendly with dogs, and happy to go with the flow, Patches could be a wonderful addition to your home.
If you’re interested in fostering with the intention of adopting, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form
Patches' adoption fee is $850.
