Parka's Story
Adoptable Parka! Parka is a middle aged mixed breed dog. She is full grown at 44 pounds and is short and stocky.

This is a special adoption profile, because Parka is a special dog. Please read her whole story. Her story is one of the saddest. She was almost euthanized for being "reactive" at the shelter. They kept giving her extensions because there were so many people rooting for her. Parka finally made it out thanks to the angels who offered to foster. The biggest surprise happened when she made it out of the shelter. Her foster woke up to PUPPIES. Suddenly it all made sense while Parka was "reactive" at the shelter. She was pregnant, approaching labor. Sadly the shelter did not realize that Parka was pregnant due to thinking her sagging teets were from past litters. She received her vaccines at the shelter which caused complications for the puppies, and only one survived. Now you can see why we said Parka's story is one of the saddest. She was still such a great mom and did an amazing job raising her puppy. He has since been adopted.

Her sad story doesn't end there. After completing heartworm treatment, it was time for Parka to get spayed. During her spay, the doctors found two mammary tumors. We chose to do biopsies, and we found that one was benign, but the other was cancerous. Thankfully with it being removed, it could not spread, and Parka does not have cancer.

Parka has really blossomed in her foster home, but it's going to take a special person/family to be her forever home. She is actually very dog friendly and really thrives with the company of another dog, so another dog in her forever home is required. When Parka gets nervous because of new smells/loud noises, etc., the dog in her foster home helps her calm down and shows her how to be confident. Parka really loves her foster mom, and is still a little shy around men and strangers. Parka is really great in the house and is crate and potty trained. She can go on the leash for potty time, but is still nervous on walks.

This sweet girl has been through so much. She deserves a calm, loving, peaceful home that will give her love and safety for the remainder of her days. Adopters who are gentle, patient, and loving are essential. She is fully vetted and in great health now, with a lot of life left to live.
