Pappy's Story

Pappy is a 1.5-year-old Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix with a huge heart and a confident little strut. She’s potty trained, crate trained, and a loving, playful companion who thrives when she’s close to her people. Pappy is sweet & affectionate, and she absolutely loves going on walks. She’s friendly with strangers, does well in the car, and is easy to transport, though busy public spaces can make her a bit nervous. At home, Pappy is best left crated if she’s home alone as she can be a bit anxious (Work from home? Retired? You’re our target audience here) . She’s good with other dogs, though she can be a little bossy and isn’t afraid to communicate when she needs space. She’d also be perfectly happy being an only dog. Pappy can be exuberantly mouthy when she plays and barky when she’s protecting her home (thank you, Chihuahuas, for your service). Therefore, she is best suited in a home with kids 8+ and a fenced in yard. While she considers herself lucky for making it out of the shelter and into a foster home, Pappy had a streak of bad luck that landed her with not one, not two, but three issues with her legs. 🤦🏼‍♀️. She suffered some sort of accident prior to entering MHCR that left her with a fractured pelvis (and shattered femoral head) and a luxating patella. These items were successfully addressed surgically and Pappy was almost cleared for adoption….then she ran her mouth to a French Bulldog. That little scuffle landed her with a broken front paw. Thankfully, she just needed a splint for a couple of months—no additional surgery required. Alas, it’s officially time to find her forever home.

Pappy is being fostered in Lone Tree, Colorado.

*We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs.*

You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/pappy/.

You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.
