Palmer's Story
Meet Palmer! This absolute sweetheart has emerged from his shell as the most perfect and playful snuggle buddy.

Palmer arrived after being surrendered to a shelter a few days earlier, passed along after only a few short months with his last owner who had taken him in from an elderly neighbor. That’s a lot of upheaval for any dog, especially one this fragile and gentle.

But Palmer is settling into his foster home beautifully and coming out of his shell more and more every day. Initially shy and nervous, Palmer has revealed himself to be an A+ snuggle buddy. He knows exactly who he wants to snuggle, too - first he climbs the stairs onto the couch, then he climbs over foster dad and foster siblings and curls right into foster mom's lap!

Palmer is as polite as can be: completely houstrained, leash-trained, and a perfect passenger in the car. And after sleeping for three days straight upon his arrival, Palmer has become an active and playful little dude. He demands food and attention with vigor (and the cutest paw swipes), and has perfected the art of the Chihuahua side-eye when you take too long to sit down and snuggle. He sleeps through the night, can go up and down stairs, and doesn't mind staying home when his humans are out.

Palmer is great with other dogs and would enjoy having a canine sibling in his forever home, but it's not a must. As long as he has a human to snuggle with, he's a happy boy. He also loves treats, snacks, and basically all food, and will bounce and roll around to celebrate when he's extra happy (which is often!). Palmer is always on alert and can be a little jumpy, so he'd do best in a home that's generally calm and quiet (ideally without young kids, though he's great with older ones).

Palmer may have some arthritis whispering in his joints, and just like so many seniors we meet, he has zero teeth after a lifetime of decay and minimal dental care. But his lab work is great and his future is so bright.

Whoever adopts this happy and loving little man will be so lucky. We can't wait for his forever family to find him!

Palmer is approximately 13 years old and 7 lbs.

Fostered in Baltimore, MD
Please apply at MirisHaven.org
