Paige's Story

Hi! My name is Paige and I am looking for a forever home. I was picked up by Animal Control and taken to a really scary place called a shelter where, after my hold time was up and no one came looking for me and no one wanted to adopt me, I was placed on something bad called "the list". BCAA heard of my plight and worked with a volunteer at the shelter and got me to one of their fosters. When I first got into foster, I was a little scared and confused so, just like in my kennel at the shelter, I huddled in the back of my crate making myself as small as possible. But my foster parents were patient with me and slowly I learned I could trust them. I have come out of my shell a lot and my foster mom says it's now time for me to find my own home. No one is exactly sure what breed mix I might be (some type of terrier?), but at just a little over 20lbs at 1 year old, I shouldn't get much bigger. I have gotten along with most all of the other dogs I have met but am somewhat intimidated by bigger dogs; I haven't bothered the cats I have encountered. I have done ok in my crate with just a couple of accidents when I first came into foster and was still learning the schedule and I haven't bothered my dog bed or bedding; however, I would prefer to be out and about with you and may let you know not to forget about me if I see or hear you. I love my food and treats which will help with any future training you might want to do. I am learning about that thing called a leash and am doing ok on it, but I know with a little bit of time and some treats I will get it down pat as I love going out on adventures; in the meanwhile, I would love a fenced yard to run around in and take care of my business. If you would like to meet me, please fill out an application which can be found at www.bcaaofnj.org.
