Pablo's Story

Pablo (noun) - a medium length, wire-hair black chihuahua who has ears 5 times too big and legs 5 times too short and stumpy for his body. Might be a chiweenie. See also: loyal, smart, snuggly, energetic, happy stalke-errr we mean shadow; the most well- behaved chihuahua as long as you are not a dog, child, or stranger. Prefers the company of one or two patient adults who have a great sense of humor and prefer a calmer home without too much chaos. He can also share a home with cats, though he will sometimes try to chase them. A Pablo's favorite things include: early morning snuggles in bed, couch snuggles, sunbathing flat on his side looking dead, treats, playing with toys, and spending time with mom and/or dad.

Best Skills:
- Name Recognition: responds to Pablo, and comes when called even from the backyard when he is barking at the neighbors, the mailman, children playing on the next block, or the wind

- Eating (though he can be picky, he likes to keep you on your toes and always guessing what he's going to like each hour)

- Potty-Trained! Yes, behold a chihuahua who is potty trained!

- Crate-Trained: though he doesn't like it, he will go right in on his own when asked

- Sit: sometimes, if he wants to and a collection of other random skills his dog-trainer foster mom has tried to teach him. Okay, so maybe he's not book-smart....NEXT!

- Sleeps through the night - next to you in bed and under the blankets of course

- Confidence: he prances around like the rightful king of his castle with his own unique strut

- Olympic ready: he is a perfect candidate for his favorite activities! sprinting, jumping, murdering stuffed toys, picking pills out of food, playing fetch, and napping - the most muscular, buff chihuahua you will ever meet! so buff in fact, his muscles busted right out of his Hawaiian shirt (which he hated anyways because he doesn't like clothes)

- Protects his people: you will never pee or shower alone again! He positions himself with his butt to you or the shower and guards the door for predators while you do your business. He will also protect you from any perceived threat by barking loudly and saying "go away you scary _____(Insert thing thats only scary to Pablo) ____ or else! Leave my mom/dad/furry sister/my house and territory alone right this instant!" What a gentleman!

- Stuck-like-glue: being a stalker is not usually a great quality to have unless you weigh 9lbs like Pablo, and then it's okay. He will follow you everywhere! He will sit next to you on the couch, be the big or little spoon at night while you sleep (how versatile!), stare at you while you eat, follow you around the house from room to room. You'll do everything together forever!

Quirks:
- He is a Chihuahua: he needs someone who understands he's a chihuahua - and he acts like a chihuahua. He does not want to make new friends, he only thinks he wants to go for walks but really doesn't, he barks a lot, he is selectively people friendly - but he also will become your best friend within a few hours time.

- He needs a forever home where his new family doesn't like to have people over to visit often, as it really freaks him out to have visitors disrupt the peace of his safe-space aka your home.

Are you ready to meet your new tiny best friend? Visit www.wishuponarescue.org/adopt today to find out more about how to join Pablo's inner circle.

The adoption fee for Pablo is $400. This donation helps to cover veterinary expenses including spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations. Wish Upon a Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, foster based animal rescue. If you would like to meet Pablo please complete our adoption questionnaire at www.wishuponarescue.org/adopt. We will review your responses and be in contact to schedule a meet and greet at a time and place convenient for your family and our team member.

Wish Upon A Rescue's Adoption Policy
Thank you for considering adoption first!! Wish Upon a Rescue, hereinafter referred to as WISH, has dogs and cats available for adoption. We believe that all of these animals deserve a second chance at a forever home, regardless of breed, age or physical ability. These animals come to WISH for a variety of reasons, and we will be sure to share with you all of the factual information we have on each pet prior to adoption. These animals may come to us after being found stray (lost and unclaimed from animal control), as an owner surrender due to illness or relocation of the previous owner, or as a result of unwanted litters of kittens and puppies. But don’t worry; no matter how these animals found safety at WISH, they are all ready to brighten your life. They are WISHING on every star for their forever families, and they are working hard in their foster homes to learn how to be the best dog or cat in town! When adopting an animal, you will be saving at least two lives: The life of your newly adopted family member and a second life by opening up a space in a foster home for WISH to save another animal. Please remember, when you adopt you are making a lifetime commitment to your new family member. When you complete the application, it will be reviewed by a WISH Adoption Counselor. The adoption counselor’s primary responsibility is placing an animal in the home best suited for its unique needs. An interview with you and your family will allow the adoption counselor to help ensure a good fit with your new family member and answer any questions you may have. In some cases, an adoption counselor will bring the animal to your home in preparation for adoption. This is a good time for all members of the household and any current animals to meet. This is also a good time to ask any questions you may have. Depending on the needs of your family and the animal, the adoption may be completed during this visit. Here at WISH, we strongly believe in positive reinforcement training for all cats and dogs. We require that puppies and the majority of adult dogs complete a positive reinforcement training class at a certified training facility within two month of adoption at the adopter’s expense. We would be more than happy to help you find a trainer that meets your family’s needs. A copy of the training completion certificate should to be sent to a WISH After Care Manager. A WISH After-Care Manager will be in contact with you several times in the next few months to ask how the animals is doing, ask about the animal’s health and well-being, and to assist with any issues or questions that you may have. A valid driver’s license or state ID is required for identification purposes and will be copied for the animals file. The primary applicant must be 21 years old or older. WISH reserves the right to accept or deny any applicant or application based on our requirements for adoption and the needs of the animal. Completion of this application does not guarantee approval for adoption. Please be truthful in your responses of this adoption application as it will help the adoption counselor find the perfect pet for your family. Failure to provide truthful answers may result in a nullification of your application and contract. WISH is an all volunteer organization and we appreciate your cooperation and patience with our adoption process. We will do our very best to complete the adoption process as quickly as possible, while ensuring what is best for the animals and your family.
