Ozzy's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Since you’re reading this, you’re obviously looking for a new best friend – and, hey, so am I! I don’t care how old you are or what you look like, but in case those things matter to you, I’m approximately 6 years old and that’s me in the picture with the silky, soft black and white fur. Please don’t let my left eye cataract fool you, I can still follow you everywhere you go, including the bathroom.

I don’t mean to brag, but my foster mom named me Ozzy Dogbourne because I sound like that famous rock singer who wrote “Bark at the Moon” when I want to come out of my crate. When I’m not following you around, I love to nap on soft blankets and fluffy beds with my furry friends or even alone (I’m not picky) and I love-love-love a good ear and/or the booty scratches. I’m just starting to learn how to chew on doggy toys and my favorite treats are yummy chicken wrapped sweet potatoes. I still need some patience while I master this “potty outside” thing but I’m getting better at it every day. So, what do you say? Wanna be besties?

ADOPTION REQUIRMENTS:

Physically fenced in yard to keep him safe - no invisible fences.

Confident and friendly resident dog preferred but not required.

*All SFCR dogs are current on age-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella, and lepto), spayed/neutered (if at least 6 months of age), tested for heartworm & tick-borne diseases, receive dentals if needed, are started on preventatives for heartworm and fleas/ticks, and microchipped.

Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have received limited socialization, so they generally require extra time to settle in and acclimate. Skills like house training, leash walking, and mastering stairs may require a little extra practice. However, with understanding, patience, and a gentle hand, most of our dogs adapt quite quickly.
