From Ozzy's foster mom:<br/><br/>When Ozzy first arrived he was understandably a bit anxious. He was constantly panting and drinking. We discovered at his initial vet check that he had untreated diabetes, so he started his insulin journey.<br/><br/>He gets 10 units twice a day with his meals and is on a little diet to trim down some to a healthier weight. When Ozzy got checked at the vet, his weight was at 59.1 and his blood sugar was at 320! He has shed a few pounds and is now at 56.9 lbs and his blood sugar was 72 at his last check. Ozzy just had a dental, and while they had to pull some teeth, he is now in tip top shape. We believe he is about 7 years old.<br/><br/>Ozzy seems to be a sweet, eager, and funny dog. He knows sit, stay, back, and lay down. He listens and cocks his head when you chat with him. He loves to roll over for belly rubs and he is definitely a Corgi, be cause he is a talkative boy! He pulls on a leash but is always ready and excited to go outside. He has done well with my 130 lb Mastiff mix Opal, and my 23 lb Corgi Hee-Haw, after a slow introduction. Ozzy has some resource guarding tendencies, but we have been able to navigate that with basic approaches like feeding separately and monitoring toy/chew use. Ozzy LOVES to play with his foster brother Hee-Haw. They like to play chase with each other and enjoy wrestling in the grass with each other. It did take him about 4 weeks to warm up to his big foster sister Opal, who desperately wanted to play. He seems fairly well socialized with dogs and give clear cues when he is not interested/done playing, and seems to pick up on body language from other dogs as well.<br/><br/>On our trips to the dog park Ozzy did fine as other dogs came and went from the other areas of the dog park. And while he ran up to the fence when they would arrive, he didn’t run it barking and carrying on. He is reactive to other dogs when we are on walks on leash when walking with his foster siblings. His reactivity seems to be less when he walks solo, but I’ve been working on redirecting/breaking his focus and he seems to drop interest in decent time. He takes treats gently and can catch them too! He has been boarded a few times since staying with us and everyone at the vet/boarding absolutely adores him. He does well with boarding. They said he was a little anxious the first day he arrived, but calmed down by the second day.<br/><br/>He seems to enjoy hard chew toys most, I think his favorite are bison horns and antlers. The bison horn especially seemed to help his teeth and remove some of the built up plaque he had when he arrived.<br/><br/>I think my favorite thing about Ozzy so far is that he is very concerned about sneezing! If I sneeze and he is in the other room, he runs to come check on me and cocks his head at me! It is so cute.<br/><br/>He likes cuddling and is affectionate with me and his foster siblings. He sometimes try to help them out by cleaning their ears.<br/><br/>I think Ozzy would do wonderfully in home that had another dog his size that he could wrestle and get the zoomies with, but he probably wouldn’t mind being an only dog as long as he got lots of play time outside. Due to his mild reactivity, I think a careful and slow introduction would be best.<br/><br/>Ozzy's adoption fee is $250.
