Ozzey's Story

Meet Ozzey Ozzey is a 3-year-old, 58lb sweetheart who just wants to be near his person. Volunteers describe him as so sweet, docile, and gentle. He's the kind of dog who's happiest just hanging out by your side, watching the world go by. On walks, he's a total champ-no pulling, just strolling along like a gentleman. He's calm around other dogs, and while he's more of a "coexister" than a playmate, he doesn't let their energy faze him. Ozzey loves rolling in the grass-sometimes to scratch at an itchy rash he's healing from, but mostly because it feels so good to just flop and enjoy himself. Play yards? He gave it a try, but this boy is all about the chill life. A nap and a cuddle win every time. Ozzey came to us after being found in an abandoned building with his friend Sharen. After all he's been through, he deserves a safe, loving home where he can relax and be someone's best buddy. CARE STL uses a match-making style of adoption which focuses on pairing animals with humans to better each other based on the individual's needs and lifestyle. We do our best to ensure the right pet for the person through an open, conversation-based approach to assess what the applicant is wanting in a companion animal. Who Qualifies for Adoption? - You must be 21 or older. - You must be able to provide a secure, stable, and loving home environment. - You must be able to provide the adopted animal with proper post-adoptive veterinary care. Come by the shelter to fill out an adoption application or fill one out online to save you some time at the shelter. The purpose of this application is to gather information about your home, pets, and general lifestyle to help our adoptions counselors determine if the pet you wish to adopt is a good fit for both you and the pet. Please give us a call at (314) 696-2444 or email us about any questions you have concerning available animals or to schedule a time to meet with one of our Adoptions Coordinators. Or you can simply come by our shelter located at: 2700 Walnut Place, St. Louis, MO 63103. How Much Does it Cost to Adopt? DOGS: $100 This fee includes spay/neuter services, vaccinations, microchipping, dewormer, initial flea/tick treatment, and heartworm testing. CATS: $100 This fee includes spay/neuter services, vaccinations, microchipping, dewormer, initial flea/tick treatment, and FIV/FELV testing. PUPPIES: $150 KITTENS: $100 for one kitten, $150 for two kittens This fee includes spay/neuter services, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, dewormer, and initial flea/tick treatment.
