Otto's Story

Meet Otto! I know what you're thinking.. a corgi in rescue needing a home?! Your eyes aren't deceiving you! Please read through this bio before applying. Applicants will only be accepted who make a clear note of his behavioral history in their application when asked.

Otto was surrendered to the local shelter after a bite case on a kid. Since we weren't there, and we did not speak to the family, we can only work with information provided. We were told they had been given him 2 months prior to the incident and he was "allowed to roam outside." The incident recorded was a "minor bite on a child" when the child went to pick him up.

What we have learned about Otto is that he is fearful of new people. We can definitely see him giving a warning bite to be put down if forced into a situation with people he doesn't know. However, he has settled so well in his foster home. He now loves his fosters and is a delight to have around. Because of this, we don't think he is a dangerous dog. What we see is a dog who was never taught that people would respect his boundaries when he was scared, so he learned to give a warning bite. There have been no bite incidents since Otto has come into our rescue. He will need a home without kids and a home who will put him in his kennel if they plan to have kids over. With proper slow introductions, he would be fine with adults who respect his boundaries even new to the home. Once he trusts you, he wants to be your best friend. He has done great with the other dogs in his foster home.

Are you willing to be patient with the cutest corgi butt and give him a forever? He is currently located in Houston, TX, but would be able to transport for the right home.

Apply now at caitiesfosterfam.org/adopt

Caitie's Foster Fam's Adoption Policy
• Potential adopters are required to submit an adoption application and be approved before they can physically meet a foster dog. All pets in the home must be up to date on vaccines and spayed/neutered (medical exceptions must be communicated). We require an application, virtual home visit, personal/vet references, meet and greet, and $350 adoption fee. • Suitable applicants may be contacted for additional screening. • Once approved, meet and greets with the foster dog and foster parents will be scheduled with qualified applicants. • The adopter pays adoption fees and signs an adoption contract. Foster dogs cannot go to a potential adopter’s home until the fee and contract are received. Foster dog then goes to its new forever home.
