Meet Otter
Otter is one of a kind! He is special needs, but that doesn't slow him down a bit. Otter came to us from a family who bred two dogs that were too far apart in size difference. The mom was only about 40lbs and the dad was well over 80lbs. Sadly, breeding this way is harmful to the mother. She had 4 puppies, one of which got stuck and passed away. Luckily, the mom survived. We aren't a fan of breeding to begin with, but this was irresponsible. Otter was born without the ability to stand or walk. At 4 weeks old, he was the size of an 8 week old puppy and was diagnose with sporadic nerve damage in his back legs and hips. Otter learned quickly, in order to keep up in his foster home...he better learn to walk. With PT and lots of TLC he gained that ability and can move just fine. Now, his back legs are still very wobbly and he cannot do normal things like scratch anything with those back feet. But he can hop on them and run the best he knows how. Some days are harder than others, so Otter will come with a wheel chair for those days.
He is dog, cat, and kid friendly. He loves anyone he meets. Sadly, he is growing up in his foster home at now almost a year!
