Otis was heartbreakingly left behind in a yard when his previous owners moved out, and ever since, he’s been scared to be left alone outside. Every day he looks at us with those eyes, just hoping today will be the day someone chooses him.<br/><br/>Otis has some amazing talents! He’s crate trained, potty trained, and LOVES his walks. He gets along well with other dogs—just the ladies —and absolutely adores kids. He hasn’t been cat-tested yet, but we’re happy to help with that.<br/>One of his cutest quirks? He lets out the sweetest little baby cry when he needs to go potty—how can you say no to that face?! <br/><br/>This boy would thrive in a home with a tall fence and a family that understands he’s still healing. Otis wants nothing more than to feel safe, included, and loved.<br/>Could that someone be you? <br/><br/>Some amazing volunteers took Otis out for a slumber party to give him a much-needed break from the shelter for the weekend—and this is what they had to say about him:<br/><br/>Otis is a total sweetheart and a professional kisser—a big, snuggly teddy bear who was ready to give love right away. His gentle nature and affectionate personality really stole their hearts.<br/><br/>He did great in the car, was curious about new things, and absolutely loved a bike ride once he realized it meant extra snuggles. He even took a trip to Home Depot and did AMAZING—super friendly, calm around other dogs, gentle tail wags for humans, and he proudly tested and approved the dog beds.<br/><br/>He walked nicely indoors, took treats oh-so gently, and learned to stop, sit, and look to his humans for direction. Bath time made him a little unsure at first, but with guidance he patiently waited it out.<br/><br/>Otis is very food motivated, loves being close to his humans, and is a big cuddler. After getting some energy out, he settled right in—snoring, napping, and hanging out nearby during a Zoom call. <br/><br/>He’s still learning home life and will need some patience and routine, but whoever gives Otis a home will be rewarded with endless love, laughs, and kisses. <br/><br/>Likes:<br/>• Walks & outdoor adventures<br/>• Female dog friends<br/>• Kids (just needs help not jumping when excited)<br/>• A tall, secure fence<br/>• Routine & goofy moments<br/><br/> Dislikes:<br/>• Cats<br/>• Small dogs<br/><br/>His weekend outing showed us just how special Otis is—now he just needs his forever family!<br/><br/>OTIS is a cute and goofy Pit Bull mix! He is 4 years old and he weighs 60 lbs.<br/><br/>Unfortunately, OTIS tested positive for heartworms. But please don’t let this scare you away! We just need to get him into a home during his treatment. The cost for the heartworm treatment is completely covered. We can provide you with more info about his heartworm treatment if you are interested in adopting or fostering him (we’d love to find him a foster home!). Once his treatment plan is completed, Otis will be able to live a normal healthy life with no restrictions!<br/><br/><br/>ADOPTING A PET<br/>We are open for meet and greet adoptions at our shelter on weekends. No appointment is necessary for weekend adoptions. Our weekend hours vary and we also have satellite adoption events every weekend.
