OSO's Story

Meet Oso! Oso recently headed out on a Doggie Day Out adventure to Old Sacramento, and let’s just say... this boy made the most of his field trip! From the moment he arrived, Oso was FULL of energy and ready to have fun. He started with some time on a big grassy patch where he got to stretch his legs on a long line, and wow, does this guy love fetch! He could have chased that ball all day. While he wasn’t totally sold on dropping it at first, he picked up “drop it” quickly and showed just how smart and food-motivated he is. With a little consistency (and some tasty treats), Oso has all the potential to shine in training. Oso is incredibly affectionate and truly just wants to be everyone’s best friend. He happily accepted pets and cuddles from anyone who offered, including several 2nd and 3rd graders! He was especially sweet when greeting a child in a wheelchair, showing zero hesitation and lots of gentle curiosity. Around kids, he seemed a bit more docile, soaking up attention and leaning in for love. And when we say he leans in... we mean it literally! At one point, Oso leaned his whole body in for cuddles and accidentally knocked his handler over, purely in the name of affection, of course. He just loves being close to his people. On leash, Oso is strong and enthusiastic. He pulls hard when he spots potential new friends because he’s eager to say hello. He can also get a little mouthy when he’s overly excited during play, but it’s all part of his happy, playful spirit and something that can absolutely be worked on with guidance and structure. After a couple of hours of running and playing, Oso showed he can settle down, too. He relaxed nicely on a bench while taking in the sights before heading back to the shelter. Oso is active, affectionate, playful, and thrives on human connection. He would love a home that can match his energy, continue his training, and give him all the pets and cuddles he so desperately adores. If you’re looking for a fun-loving adventure buddy with a big heart (and an even bigger zest for life), Oso might just be your guy.
