Oskar's Story

Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Oskar. He is an 8 year old Dachshund mix weighing about 35 lbs. He has a short hair coat. He was surrendered back to our Rescue after 6 years after his father passed away and his Mom started chemo/radiation therapy. She no longer could look after him.

Oskar is a very affectionate boy with his foster family. He has done well with their own dogs and only will get jealous if another dog comes around when Oskar is getting attention. He is a quiet boy and is housebroken. He loves to run off leashed in his family's fenced yard. He has lost 6 lbs since arriving as he was too heavy when he came back. He now eats twice daily and will not overeat. He doesn't play with toys anymore but loves bully sticks and kongs stuffed with canned dog food. His is great in the vehicle and loves to go for car rides. He has a really endearing personality and disposition. He is not mean spirited. Oskar loves to go for walks but pulls.

The ideal home for Oskar would be a quiet one, perhaps a retired couple or a couple working from home. He doesn't mind children but young children running around frighten him. He would do fine with a well socialized female resident dog as well. He requires a cat free home.

Oskar is fully up to date with vaccines, 4dx tested negative and neutered. He will be microchipped prior to his adoption.

A fully fenced yard for our Oskar is mandatory.

We wish to thank Stephen Taylor Photography for these lovely photos.

Visit barksandmeows.ca for an online application.
