OREO-JOY's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.OREO-JOY hails from the Northern community of Pikangikum and came south to find her forever home. She’s received her first set of vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and has been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. She’ll be getting her second vaccine and rabies included in her adoption fee but we can’t get it for until the first week of January due to our vet being closed for Christmas. She was found all alone so there’s no info on her parents and having no info on her parents means the size she’ll grow to be or her breeds are just an educated guess based on what she looks like. This sweet girl a little socialite who loves people and greets everyone with lots of tail wags and kisses. She has a very calm demeanour and loves to sit in your lap and snuggle while watching TV. She loves to play with her many toys and also chew on her chewy toys such as Nyla bones due to her teething.

OREO-JOY is crate trained and sleeps quietly in it at night and she’ll also nap in it during the day too. House training is going really well and she’s very good at letting you know when she has to go outside for a bathroom break. She loves going on walks and gets excited when she knows she’s going on one but like all puppies, she’ll race ahead of you and pull you along. She has a voracious appetite for such a little pup but it does make it easy to train her with treats as she’s always up for having some. She has very good manners and will “sit” for her meals and also take her treats “gentle.”

OREO-JOY’s ideal family would be an active one that loves to go on hikes and walks plus will take her on adventures especially seeing as she travels so well in a vehicle. We would prefer her to be in a home with another dog as she’s fostered with one and just loves to play with her plus curl up on the couch with her too. She hasn’t met a cat but if there’s one in the home we do recommend a slow, monitored introduction while she’s kept leashed. Children should be aged 6yrs and up plus they should be kind, loving and gentle towards animals. She does require a fenced-in yard so she can be kept safe while she has a run around and play.

Puppies are cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need her adopter to be in agreement to take her for puppy/obedience training to help her to become the best girl possible. Her spay is included in her adoption fee and her potential adopter must be in agreement to have her spayed by the time she’s 6 months of age. The surgery will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. In order for the rescue to do so we need the spay age requirements to still be followed plus a copy of the procedure invoice and an up-to/date picture of her (preferably in her onsie or cone) in order to do the reimbursement. We do post the picture on our fb page along with other pets that were “fixed” in the same week.

If OREO-JOY sounds like she’ll suit your family and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet her.
