Oreo's Story
Meet Oreo!

Estimated DOB: 9/28/25
Male
Shepherd/Retriever mix

Oreo is a sweet, playful shepherd/retriever mix (although your guess is as good as ours!) puppy with a soft heart and a love for being close to those he trusts. Like any puppy, he’s still learning the ropes—potty training is a work in progress, but he does well when kept on a consistent schedule and supervised. He’s currently used to sharing a crate with his brother and can get vocal when separated, but we expect this to improve once he’s settled into his own home and routine.

Oreo has lots of puppy energy and loves to play hard, followed by equally serious nap time. He adores toys, especially puzzle-style toys that make him work for a treat, and peanut butter is his absolute favorite. While leash training hasn’t started yet, Oreo prefers to stay close to his people, which should make learning easier.

He does great with other dogs and would truly thrive in a home with an older, confident dog who can help guide him and show him the world isn’t such a scary place. Oreo is good with kids and is the more snuggly of the two brothers—he’s happiest curled up in your lap or right by your side.

Oreo is still building confidence and working through some separation from his brother, so a patient home with another dog would be ideal for him. With the right support, this gentle, loving pup is going to blossom into an amazing companion.

Adopters will be provided a voucher to cover the cost of spay/neuter at a local participating vet when age appropriate.

Interested in adopting? Submit an adoption application on our website rescuedrascalsil.org!

We will review your application at our earliest convenience. If your application is selected, we will contact you for a phone interview. From there, we’d schedule a meet and greet with the dog to make sure it is a great fit for adoption for the whole family and any other dogs in your home.

Questions about adoption?
