Oreo's Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Oreo, a 10-month-old Cattle Dog and German Shepherd blend with a silky black coat and the most charming white speckled feet. Oreo arrived at the shelter feeling quite nervous and is still in the process of warming up to his new caretakers. His previous family made the difficult decision to surrender him because they knew they couldn't provide the level of care he truly deserves, and they want nothing more than for him to find a home that can fully commit to his bright future.

Oreo is an incredibly intelligent and active young boy who embodies the best traits of his working-breed heritage. He is a quintessential "velcro dog" who thrives on human companionship and dislikes being left alone. Because he is so smart, he will need a family with the patience and time to focus on his continued training and socialization. While he has lived successfully with other dogs, cats, and children, he would do best in a home with older children. True to his Cattle Dog roots, he has a natural instinct to herd and may "nip" at heels or hands to get your attention when he’s excited. In a home environment, Oreo is a devoted partner, but he does have a few specific needs to ensure he feels safe. He has shown some resource guarding regarding his food, so he is best separated from other dogs during mealtime to help him feel secure.

If you are looking for a loyal companion who will be by your side through every adventure, Oreo is ready to learn, grow, and love you forever.

** Oreo is up-to-date on vaccinations, but is awaiting his neuter surgery. This will take place within the next couple of weeks, so we are estimating him to be ready for adoption by 2/6/26. Please submit an online adoption application for Oreo if you're interested in setting up an appointment time to meet him.
