Meet 7-year-old male Great Dane, Opie! After living chained to an igloo doghouse, Opie has adapted pretty well to indoor life and regular meals. He has rewarded his foster family by never having an accident in the house since being with them. He does not scratch at the door or bark, but you can tell when he wants out. He sometimes needs a little help going into his crate as he prefers staying with his people. He quiets down pretty fast once he is in.
Opie loves his people and will lay next to you as long as you allow him. He likes using your leg as a pillow. He seems to be good with kids as he gets along very well with the foster family’s 2-year-old granddaughter. He has greeted everyone while out shopping, old or young. He does pretty well on a leash and does not drag you. With a pinch collar, the foster family’s 3-year-old daughter walked him and the leash was slack. Opie is not a huge Dane – his most recent weight was around 100 lbs.
Opie needs a family that has a little human or 2 and another dog to play with. We are not sure of his age, but he is somewhere between adult and senior. The foster family’s personal Dane pups have made him younger with play time, but he still loves his couch time. Opie has not been cat tested.
He is a great dog and will make any family very happy! Opie is neutered, up to date on all his shots, is Heartworm Neg, and taking preventatives. He has had Bravecto for fleas & ticks. His adoption fee is $200.
