Opie's Story

Are you a cat person, intrigued by the idea of owning a dog? For example, you wish your cat would enjoy walks and look more like a dog? Meet Opie!

Opie is the perfect mix of a dog with feline energy. Opie is 11 years old and is a husky/Pomeranian/ something else. Opie loves to snuggle, he loves to demand snuggles, he loves a lap and to share your bed, but all on his terms. He is an incredibly quirky soul who will keep you laughing. He loves to bonk your hand for more pets when he's in the mood, but occasionally will decide that he's not up for pets and will avoid your out stretched hand like the plague in true feline aloofness.

Opie truly is one of a kind and has a unique best friend energy. He's beautifully housetrained, and crate trained and walks like a dream on a leash. Opie can be trusted outside the crate though as well! Opie can take or leave the presence of other dogs. He mostly ignores them..Opie is fine with dog-savvy cats. He shares his foster home with a cat who thinks he's a dog and has learned to respect the cat.

Opie is looking for someone who will love him for all his silly quirks, including his one ear. He is not a good fit for a home with small children and would do best with teens and adults. He takes a little while to warm up and figure out your routine, but once he does, you'll have a silly little bestie.

Opie is up to date on vaccines, microchipped and recently had a dental cleaning. His adoption fee is $150. If are 65+, ask about our Golden Friends Program-any seniors adopting a senior dog receive a discount on their adoption fee.
