Ophelia's Story

Meet Ophelia!<br/>This stunning girl is around 2 years old, weighs about 45lbs, and in case you didnt notice.. she only has three legs! She was pulled from a local shelter as a young puppy and she had a badly broken leg that ended up needing to be amputated. Dont worry though, she gets around pretty great with the legs she has left. Ophelia is crate trained, potty trained, walks well on a leash, is low energy, likes other dogs, and is super affectionate and loving with the people she knows and trusts. She does take some time to warm up to new people and needs slower intros as well as humans who understand her and will set her up for success. Once she knows someone though she quickly wants love and attention and will oftentimes role right over and offer her belly for rubs. She would really thrive in a home with another friendly, happy go lucky, balanced dog who can help her feel more confident when she meets new people. Ophelia does take a low cost daily anti anxiety medication to help with her fear of new people as well as a daily joint supplement to help keep her joints healthy since they work harder to compensate for her missing leg. Ophelia does well on leash when out and about with a handler she can trust and look to for direction, but she is not a dog that wants to meet strangers and she prefers to stay away from super busy environments. She would do best in a home where there arent tons of visitors and would thrive with a human who understands her needs and will help her feel advocated for. She would not do well in an apartment setting or an environment that is super busy or chaotic. She has not been around many children but her trainer believes she would like be happiest and do best in a child free home. Ophelia has been through training and comes with continued FREE training support for life and her trainer is also offering discounted boarding services should an adopter ever need it. While Ophelia does have some quirks / needs that wont be the best fit for every person or home, she has many really great qualities that would make her a fantastic companion for the right person / home.
