Opal (Courtesy Post)'s Story
Courtesy Listing - Opal is not in ARF's foster care program.

Opal is a young, joyful girl with a heart full of love and a tail that never quits. At about 40 pounds, she’s the perfect medium-size companion—big enough for adventure, small enough to be a professional lap dog. And yes, she takes that job very seriously.

This sweet pup adores people of all ages and has been wonderful with kids she’s met (ages 2+). She’s social, friendly, and thrives around other dogs—she currently lives happily with several canine pals and enjoys romping at the dog park. When playtime is over, Opal’s favorite thing is snuggling under the covers or plopping into your lap for kisses (she’s a world-class kisser and not shy about it).

Opal is fully house-trained and will politely let you know when it’s time to go out. She knows her basic commands—sit, stay, down, paw—and even has a fun little “dance” that includes a jump and spin. She’s leash trained, enjoys car rides, and loves a good game of tug (fetch… she’s still deciding how she feels about that).

A few things to know:
Like many young dogs, Opal is still working on impulse control. She can be quick out the door if given the chance, so she’ll do best in a home that’s mindful about entrances and has a secure yard. She’s also an enthusiastic chewer who’s learning to stick to her toys—continued redirection will be key. Opal has lived peacefully with cats, though given her curiosity and past environment, a home with supervision outdoors and solid fencing is important.

Healthy, affectionate, and eager to please, Opal is truly a gem of a dog who just needs the right setting to shine. If you’re looking for a loyal sidekick who will greet you like you’re the best part of her day (because you are), Opal might just be your girl.

If you would like to learn more about Opal, please complete our adoption application, which will be forwarded to Opal's owner: https://arfhumane.org/arf-adoption-application/
