Opal's Story

Light catches me differently depending on the moment—soft and calm one second, playful and curious the next—just like an opal. I’m Opal, a 2.5 year old, 30 pound Beagle mix with a gentle soul and a nose that loves to tell stories. Life has changed for me recently after losing my person, but I’ve carried forward all the good things they taught me. I’m house trained, crate trained (with a little help getting in), and I walk nicely on a leash. I have lovely manners, the kind that come from being truly loved. I’m the kind of girl who fits in just about anywhere—house or apartment—as long as I have someone nearby to share my days with. I get along beautifully with dogs, cats, and kids. I’m easygoing and laid back, happiest when I’m strolling along on a walk, nose to the ground, taking in all the scents of the world. And yes… my sniffing can get a little enthusiastic—you might hear my nose working overtime! I’m a bit particular about my meals and I really appreciate when someone takes the time to make sure I’m eating well. I also have a playful side—I fell in love with a little toy that chirps like a bird and carry it around like it’s my treasure. Sometimes I even bring my favorite toys outside to enjoy in the sunshine. I bond deeply with my people. I like to know you’re close, and while I can settle in my crate, I may sing you a little song if I hear you nearby.
More than anything, I’m looking for someone who will be home with me, someone I can love and stay close to—a steady presence to match my loyal heart. I may be a little gem still finding my place again, but just like an opal, I shine brightest when I’m cherished. Could I be your Opal?

My adoption fee is $150 and includes my spay/neuter, vaccinations, wellness exam, heartworm test, and microchip!
