Meet Onyx, an energetic, affectionate dog who has been with us since May and is more than ready for a home of his own. He loves being around people, warms up quickly, and leans in for affection. Onyx is smart and eager to work—he knows sit, stay, down, and watch me. He’s also shown signs of being potty trained across multiple day trips.<br/><br/>Onyx has plenty of energy and can get overstimulated, especially at the start of a walk. He pulls on leash and may benefit from a harness or gentle leader, but he takes direction well and settles with guidance. He’s done great passing other dogs on leash and enjoys rough-and-rowdy play with compatible dog friends. In new situations, he can be unsure of men with deeper voices, but he warms up quickly with space, treats, and a calm approach. He would do best in a home with older kids (12+).<br/><br/>In quieter moments, Onyx is a lovable companion who enjoys leaning on you, sitting at your feet, or climbing into your lap for attention. He rides best in the car with a seatbelt or backseat barrier, as he likes to be close to his person. Onyx would do well in an active home that can give him structure, enrichment, and consistent exercise.
