Meet Onyx, an energetic, affectionate dog who has been with us since May and is more than ready for a home of his own. He loves being around people, warms up quickly, and leans in for affection. Onyx is smart and eager to work-he knows sit, stay, down, and watch me. He's also shown signs of being potty trained across multiple day trips.<br/><br/>Onyx has plenty of energy and can get overstimulated, especially at the start of a walk. He pulls on leash and may benefit from a harness or gentle leader, but he takes direction well and settles with guidance. He's done great passing other dogs on leash and enjoys rough-and-rowdy play with compatible dog friends. In new situations, he can be unsure of men with deeper voices, but he warms up quickly with space, treats, and a calm approach. He would do best in a home with older kids (12+).<br/><br/>In quieter moments, Onyx is a lovable companion who enjoys leaning on you, sitting at your feet, or climbing into your lap for attention. He rides best in the car with a seatbelt or backseat barrier, as he likes to be close to his person. Onyx would do well in an active home that can give him structure, enrichment, and consistent exercise.
