Ona LOVES her people. Pets? Yes please. Cuddles? Absolutely. Walks? Let’s go! Retrieving? Even better!

She also has a pretty adorable little quirk—Ona can get a bit barky when she sees strangers from a distance, dogs on the other side of the privacy fence and those pesky neighbors walking by your house. She is redirected easily and in the house or yard. She will quiet down, but does need a couple of "quiet" commands. When out in public, she will redirect if you give her something else to do (look- eye contact-, sit, or down) but once they get closer, she warms up quickly and is ready to make friends. She just likes to make sure everyone knows she has noticed them!

She does have training as well and will sit and down (she has a super funny way to get into the down position! She sometimes does a spin and then flops into the down (this happens mainly when the ball is being used as her reward because she is so excited) She also has recall that she was taught. It is Oneeeeeeda (long e sound). She also responds great to just her name, but the Oneeeeeeda is like using a full name to a child!

And if you get Ona really happy, you might even get to see her famous smile. Yes, she has a goofy little expression that looks suspiciously like she’s grinning at you.
Ona is ready to find her forever people. Could that be you?

Adjectives that describe Ona:
*Friendly
*Cuddly
*Playful
*Adorable
*Sweet
*Excitable
*Loving
*Exuberant
*Hilarious
*Smart
*Goofy

Activities that Ona enjoys:
-Fetch!!
-Playing with dogs
-Chewing on toys
-Munching on chews like yak cheese or benebones
-Walks
-Snuggles
-Playing

A few “needs work” areas for Ona:
-barking

IDEAL TYPE OF HOME:
Ona would LOVE an active family with kids who want a fun dog to be part of the adventures. But she’d also be absolutely thrilled to be your one-and-only and would make an awesome adventure buddy for an active person looking for a canine sidekick.

After adoption we ask that you give any rescue dog time to acclimate the 3/3/3 rule 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months. For 3 days after adoption/transition, the dog may wonder who you are, what the routine is, who the other dogs are. After about 3 weeks, the dog has typically acclimated to your schedule & knows her role in the house. After about 3 months, the dog has revealed their temperament & personality & settled in.

ADOPTION PROCESS DETAILS:
*Please read ALL the information in Ona’s listing before applying to ensure you understand what she needs to be successful in her new home.

*If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for Ona, please complete our adoption application at http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application (copy/paste URL into your browser). If you completed an adoption application in the last 6 months & would like for your application to be considered for Ona, please email that to us to rescue@idogdoodlerescue.org. You must complete our adoption application fully. If you choose not to answer all of the questions in the application, your application will not be considered. We will review your application & email you if you made our short list of applicants for Ona. Please respond within 24 hours if you receive an email from us about making our short list.

*You can check the status of her adoption at www.idogrescue.com/adopt or any of our social media pages. We will change her status to adopted when she is adopted. We base our adoption decisions on what is in the best interest of our dogs. Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety & welfare of our dogs. We do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog. You must be approved to adopt Ona before we schedule a meet & greet. We do not transport our dogs.

ADOPTION FEE: $595

Puppies & highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting & expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board & train costs, medical/health issues & surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees & our expenses. Unfortunately, donations are down across the board for all rescues.

TO APPLY FOR ONA-OHIO, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application
