Oliver's Story

Oliver was adopted last year but returned due to anxiety, which caused some escape and destructive behaviors. Despite his family's genuine effort, their home wasn't quite right for him. As he approaches his second birthday in May 2026, Oliver is a loving dog who quickly forms attachments with his people, though he remains cautious around strangers and unfamiliar environments. He’s especially hesitant around men and children; when he feels uneasy, he chooses to withdraw and keep his distance rather than act aggressively. Famous for being an escape artist, Oliver can scale or jump chain-link fences.

Even with these challenges, we believe there's a perfect home out there for this affectionate pup. Now back in his former foster home, Oliver settled in fairly quickly, finding comfort among other dogs, particularly when his foster mom is away/at work. She describes him as sweet and goofy as ever. We think Oliver would thrive in a household with another dog, so he has a companion during times his humans are not present, which seems to help him feel secure.
Oliver knows basic commands such as sit, heel, lie down, come, and stop (while walking), and walks beautifully on a leash. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, weighs 52 pounds, and will be two years old in May 2026.
