Olive's Story
Olive is currently living and training with her handlers at Fluvanna Women's Correctional Center.

Through a partnership with the Virginia Department of Corrections, Pixie's Pen Pals (a program of FETCH a Cure) places homeless dogs in the care of incarcerated people for dedicated, individualized training and socialization guided by canine behavior specialists.

The following bio was provided by Olive's handlers at Fluvanna Correctional:

My name is Olive and I am a 5 year old beagle. I'm sweet and shy buy in my short time with my handlers I have learned to appreciate affection and have turned into a love bug. My favorite position is on my back to receive a nice massage or belly rub. I also love sleeping on my back, especially in a cozy, fluffy bed.

I'm great about crating but don't need to be in one unless you prefer it now and then. I'm not (yet) really interested in toys and am currently indifferent to other dogs, though I co-exist well with them.

I'm just starting to show my personality, but my handlers say they know I'm spunky. I'm very smart and learning my cues but am not yet comfortable outside or in large areas. I go out and do my business and then like to come back in quickly. (This will change as I get more comfortable here.) My handlers are working hard to build my confidence in these areas and I'm showing improvement.

If you're looking for a sweet little companion who doesn't require much of anything besides love and understanding, I'm your low-maintenance girl.
