Oaty. NEEDS FOSTER or Adopter NOW's Story

Oaty needs a foster (or foster to adopt) home ASAP. He has the classic eyepatch of the RCA Victor dog or Petey from the LIttle Rascals.
At 7 mos he was abandonned in an apartment and bolted when firefighter broke down the door . Now almost 18 mos he is still with rescue
Oaty has been staying at a local doggy daycare, but his time there is up at the end of the month. That means we have 10 DAYS! to find a new spot for him!! And since kennel life is stressful, it will be better for him as well
He does well with dogs (see video of him playing!) and needs a little time to warm up to new people. He’d love a home with a little space, but his ideal is someone who will work him (paid for and supported by the rescue). Ideally he would be the only dog but fine with playdates or very slow intro to a mellow resident dog.. He seems to be okay with cats but slow introductions would be best.

He is mostly house trained but may need some extra walks in a new place. He learns quickly with a consistent schedule and postive reinforcement

And his secret talent? He LOVES to pounce on lanternflies! Cute AND environmentally conscious! Apply now to adopt this awesome young dude :)

He seems to be worried about kids, but might do well in a quiet home with very gentle dog savvy kids over 12

THIS IS URGENT SO PLEASE CONSIDER HIM And /OR SHARE IF YOU MIGHT BER ABLE TO HELP

Oaty can go anywhere within driving distance of New York City

Applications ar www.redhookdogrescue.org/applications

We can be contacted At rhdrdogs@gmail.com

Thank you

If you encounter any issues please email us and we will gladly assist you. Upon receiving your application we will review it and reach out for a phone conversation, then we will call your references and landlord (if applicable) and if your application is approved we will set up a meet and greet with the pup you are interested in. If you intend on adopting or fostering the pup a volunteer will visit your home to make sure it is a proper environment for one of our dogs and a decision will be made by the rescue group about the placement. Please understand that the process is lengthy and it does take time but that's only because we care about our dogs and want to make sure they are in the best possible home to ensure their success. We try to be as accurate and honest as possible in our descriptions. If the description states no kids, or needs to be the only dog.. we mean it Adopters must be over 21 years old. If you have other pets we require that they are spayed/neutered and up to date with shots; we will be contacting your veterinarian to confirm. We like do a 1 month trial, "foster to adopt"; what this means is if you want to adopt you will be fostering first to ensure it is a good fit. We are totally available to help you during this period. When we bring the dog to you we will ask that you fill out our adoption contract and will ask you for a check for the adoption fee, We hold your check until the end of the trial and only will deposit it when we all agree that we have made a good match. We believe that this helps alleviate stress on everyone involved, take that month to get to know each other and learn about each other. We ask that you update us weekly during the foster period. If there are question or issues we want to help>. We have trainers on our team and are here to help make a successsful matches We are Force Free trainers and follow the guidelines of the Pet Professional Guild and the American Veterinary Society "The Force-Free Method - Informed by Science, Guided by Empathy, Governed by Ethics" TM PPG promotes the use of positive operant and respondent training methods, both personally and professionally, and holds that all training should be conducted in a manner that encourages pets to enjoy the process, which will, in turn, lead them to become more confident and well-adjusted pets. PPG members optimize the use of applied behavior analysis to systematically identify and resolve problem behaviors using the least aversive and intrusive methods, tools and equipment.
