Odessa's Story

Odessa came from a crowded shelter and went unclaimed and unadopted. She was literally pulled from the shelter in her final minutes before euthanasia. As unsocialized dog avoiding all human contact, she wasn't going to be adoptable in a kennel environment. One of our rescue angels scooped her up, but then she escaped from the transport vehicle during a stop and spent hours avoiding capture. More rescue angels showed up to help and finally, amazingly, got her safely captured. By then it was too late to bring her and other dogs on transport the rest of the way to Dogwood. So our awesome volunteer pilot took the dogs home for the night before flying Odessa and other dogs the rest of the way to us.
We are so thankful for our shelter partners and rescue angels.

Odessa is a mixed breed of around 3 years old and a slightly chubby 22 pounds. Most of the time, with enough time, patience and love, we can make these terrified, shut down dogs feel safe, teach them the skills they need to thrive and give them the life every dog deserves. Odessa is already giving some kisses and tail wags and is going to be just fine.

Applications at:

http://dogwoodanimalrescue.org/adoption-application-dogs/

You can follow us on social media at:

https://.www.instagram.com/dogwoodanimalrescue/
https://.www.facebook.com/.DogwoodAnimalRescue/

Making a difference, one animal at a time.
