Oaklie's Story

My name is Oaklie, and I’m a two-year-old black lab mix, though I'm just learning what it means to be a real dog. For a while, life wasn't easy. I didn't have soft beds or a safe place. Toys and bones? I didn't even know what they were for! Now, things are different. I weigh about 40 pounds, and they say I give the best hugs ever – and I do love a good snuggle.

You have to understood that I'm a bit of a nervous nellie with strangers. The first time I met my foster mom, she was so patient. Slow movements, quiet words, and…oh boy…cheese-flavored treats! That's how she earned my trust. Now, I'm her ride or die. We go on the best adventures! I love car rides, sticking my nose out the window, smelling everything. I'm good on a leash, mostly. Squirrels are a different story; they're just so… interesting!

I could be your official couch-lounging buddy. If you want to binge-watch a show, I'm right there, curled up beside you. If you wants to go to the park, I'm ready to explore.

I'm still learning about toys and bones. Give me time, and I'll figure it out. For now, I'm content with my walks, my ear scratches, and my cheese-flavored treats. I think I'm finally starting to understand what it means to have a home, and it's the best feeling in the world.

If you are interested in adopting, please go to our website at www.lolin.org and click on Adopt, Apply for a Dog. From there, you can submit an Adoption Application to be considered for this dog. You MUST be an approved applicant to meet LOLIN dogs. There is no central location or hours to meet dogs.
