Oakley's Story

Meet Pretty Gal Oakley! Oakley is a happy, energetic, active and social dog. She loves her humans, laying in the sun, chewing on pinecones, and going on walks. Her ideal day is to lie in a sunny patch near her people and go for a nice walk, or to pile into the car for an adventure. She turns 6 in November and she has been in the same home for the past five years of her life. Oakley is a friend when you're in need and loves a good snuggle with a trusted human. She also loves to play with rope toys, and chewing on her synthetic bones.

Unfortunately, she does have a human bite history, with incidents occurring in 2022. Since then, she’s undergone more training with a professional and also has been under the care of a board-certified veterinary behaviorist since early 2024, which including daily medication. She has not bitten anyone since starting medication and undergoing proper management by her humans.

Oakley prefers to be your one on only in the home and that includes no little kiddos. When people come over to the home, she is quite content to stay in a room to herself or be crated in another room. Her current family is happy to share a complete written history including her training records, her medication—along with her trainer's and behaviorist's contact information. They believe she can thrive under the right circumstances, and she has been a joy to have thus far.

Her currently family is rehoming her due to new baby in the home. Oakley has shown no new concerning behaviors and there has been no incidents; they have just decided that a home with a child is not the right home for her. Message us for more informtion to to schedule a meet & greet today! Oakley is currently located in Kensington, CA.
*This is not a California Pit Bull Rescue dog. California Pit Bull Rescue's Adoption Policy
If you are interested in adopting a dog through California Pit bull Rescue (CPR) we have a few standard steps you will need to take: We ask that you fill out our Adoption Questionnaire, to help determine what type of dog(s) would best suit you. We will arrange for a "meet and greet" with your dog(s) of choice -- everyone, human or not, who will be living with the dog or interacting with him/her regularly is required to meet in person. Home checks are mandatory -- this is when we will get a first glimpse of how your prospective family member fits in and adjusts in your home. If all goes well, we start your trial adoption period with our adoption contract and donation (which includes microchipping, vaccination and spay/neuter) of $300. Depending on the situation, you will be required to check in at intervals to provide updates on the dog's transition. In most cases we will conduct a minimum of one follow-up visit to check on the dog's condition and welfare post adoption. You will also be required to provide proof of training with an approved trainer within one month of placement, before the adoption can be finalized. We also strongly recommend that you continue lifelong training with your dog. All CPR dogs have our full support post-adoption for questions, advice and feedback. Should you ever find yourself in the position of having to give up your dog, we require that you contact us first. We also strongly urge you to contact us before issues arise, so we can provide the resources you need to successfully keep your dog with you for life.
