Oakley's Story

This beautiful girl has been through so much and is still as sweet and loving as can be! She was adopted out of an overcrowded shelter in the south back in February of 2025 and was found on the streets again, as a stray, with another dog we also rescued (“Angel Jr.”), and brought back into the same shelter. Both were very emaciated and dehydrated when they were taken into the shelter but they have since gotten the care they need to re-establish their health. Oakley also had some wounds that have been treated and are healing well and she has continued to put on some needed weight though she is still too thin at under 30 lbs. and needs to gain a bit more. She is gaining the confidence and vigor that a pup her age (13 months) should enjoy and blossoming into a super sweet, fun, energetic girl who will be an excellent companion or family member. She is playful, loves to give kisses and be near her person/people, loves going for long walks and has a lot of energy, exuberance and joyful zoomies to get out! She has been revived by her new-found health and is just so excited to be safe, fed and cared for by a temporary foster, and hopeful for the prospect of a better life with a loving, adoptive family. Oakley will be arriving in New England on January 23rd and is eager to find her forever home! If you are interested in adopting, fostering-to-adopt or fostering her until her forever home is found, please contact villageforpawsrescue@gmail.com for more information and to fill out an application.
