Oakley's Story

Meet Oakley! He is a neutered, 8 month old male.

Oakley is a sensitive, sweet young dog who may be a little timid at first, but once he feels safe, he turns into a total love bug. He is currently working on building confidence in new situations and does best with calm, patient people who are willing to let him move at his own pace. Positive reinforcement goes a long way with Oakley. Treats, encouragement, and gentle energy help him thrive.

Oakley truly loves other dogs and would greatly benefit from having a canine companion in the home. He currently lives with a female dog and has met a male dog as well, both interactions going very well. He shows healthy curiosity toward cats and meets people nicely in the home, especially when treats are involved.

Playtime is one of Oakley’s favorite things. He enjoys soft toys, hard toys, tennis balls, and frisbees, and loves engaging with his people once he feels comfortable.

At night, Oakley can feel a bit more anxious and may benefit from a night light to help him settle. With reassurance and routine, he is able to relax and rest well.

Things Oakley is working on:

Potty training
Oakley understands the basics and is doing well overall, but still needs continued guidance and consistency as he learns.

Leash training
Oakley may freeze on leash when unsure. Gentle encouragement and high value treats help him move forward and build confidence.

Crate training
Oakley is comfortable in the crate and knows how to settle, but he cannot be crated completely alone. He needs another pet either free roaming or crated nearby. He may whine or howl at first, but does calm down. He does well crated overnight and has successfully been crated for 4 to 6 hour periods during the day.

Oakley is looking for a patient, compassionate home that understands confidence building and is willing to support a young dog as he grows. With the right environment, he is going to be an incredibly loyal and loving companion.
