Nutmeg's Story

Pictures pending.
Nutmeg is an approx 40#, slender, spunky girl. If I had to guess her heritage, I would say she could have whippet, cattle dog, Rhodesian ridgeback, shepherd, terrier and/or boxer in her. She has a very short, red coat with a little white and red merle on her chest and a little black on her muzzle. She has beautiful, soulful eyes enhanced by black eyeliner. She reluctantly wears a pink jacket when she goes out in the cold but she looks darling in it.

She is very social with both humans and dogs, but is a little shy, so takes time to warm up to new people/dogs. We just say that she doesn’t kiss on the first date. She loves balls (she will retrieve), squeaky toys, rawhide chewies, nylabones, Kongs, toilet paper, newspaper, and items of her human’s clothing to chew on, so keeping things picked up is a must! Her best friend in the world is Andy, a large male black lab mix. They play very nicely together. She has lovely manners with other dogs, but that doesn’t mean that she won’t try to steal their food if she can!
She is a very serious, smart girl who loves to work for food, affection or praise. She is housetrained and crate-trained, knows sit, down and leave-it, and comes when called. She is a sensitive, attentive, young thing, so does best trained using positive methods.

Nutmeg doesn’t feel confident enough to be left alone long, so would do best in a home with another dog and/or with someone who is around most of the time. She prefers to sleep snuggled with her human and also considers herself to be a lap dog. She is just the right size to warm up your lap on a cold winter day; as a bonus, she rests her chin on your shoulder.

If you would like to learn more about Nutmeg, please contact Elin at 509-448-5250 (before 9pm please!) or elinswims@att.net.
